Hmm. What makes you think that? I think they're targeting The Internet.

It's Open Source. Uses HTMLKit and portions of Mozilla code.

It's supposed to be a better browser. Better process isolation. Better
threading model. Better Javascript engine.

Just Better. Better than Safari, Konqueror, FireFox, Nautilus, Opera or IE.

Well, MS is the Biggest Loser in terms of the Internet replacing their
captive OS audience. That hasn't changed. So it's understandable that
MS minions have to feel threatened.
