I do wonder if a Windows-only release will attract a lot of people who
might not have been comfortable downloading, installing and learning
their way around FireFox who might be more comfortable with the Google
brand name.

Well, I admit I was disappointed that they choose a separate Open
Source project instead of contributing more to FireFox, but this is a
pretty radical departure at so many levels -- different rendering
engine, different threading model, different design of app protection
and segmentation -- that it needed to be a different project. However,
I expect that the Innovation that it brings - real Innovation, not
marketing slogans - will improve all the products. Competition is
Good.

Through the FireFox portal, Google still provides the Mozilla
Foundation with the majority of their funding. I hope that doesn't
change, as competition in the market is the best thing for both
products.
