No trouble with the 64-bit Ubuntu 8.04 I recently set up. It's a dual-core AMD with 4 GB RAM. The only issue is with a proprietary 32-bit app I need to run that I was unable to install, but that was mostly because the vendor doesn't provide the source code so I couldn't compile it for the running kernel, all I could do was rely on the RPM they distributed which was build for 32-bit. So, I set up a VMWare host on the 64-bit system, and installed 32-bit Ubuntu on it, and the software is running fine there.
