Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions and comments - as always
Profox produces the goods. I am virtually retired now but occasionally get
asked to produce a small application for small business or a charity and am
looking for an alternative to VFP for the reasons I mentioned. I am also
looking for something which will help me into the world of web programming
and keep my brain active <g>. As far as I can see there is nothing in the
Professional version so I'm going for the Standard Edition Upgrade based on
the Express version (seems very strange logic but I'm not arguing). I'll
investigate C# next. I've downloaded the Home and Learn e-book on VB.Net
and found it excellent for the initial nuts and bolts and basic syntax.
I've not had to learn a new language since moving from FPW2.6 to VFP3 many
years ago, although some of the VFP upgrades felt like it at times <g>, so
it's an interesting experience.
