It's almost as bad as the blackout about what started this financial mess.
The myth is that it's "greed on wall street" and there's always some truth
to that cliché. In fact, the more proximate cause is Fannie Mae and Freddie
Mac's "cooking the books" Enron-style with government blessing under Raines
(now an economic advisor to Obama, don'chya know?) --whom the Dems praised
just a few short years ago, while they were in denial about the practices
that are today at the root of the scandal--namely, high-risk lending.

Heard some great audio from Barney Frank ("I'd like to roll the dice a
little more on this...") and Maxine Waters denying at the time (2004) there
was any problem whatsoever at Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae, and extolling the
virtues of what Raines was doing there at the time.

None of this will make it on the View, or Oprah, or even the nightly news.
The NYT piece on Ayers was intended to be a whitewash ("There, we wrote
about it finally, nothing to see, shut up, let's move on..."), but hopefully
McCain and the Republicans will be smart enough to use it as a pretext for
opening the floodgates on Obama's truly, astonishingly radical background.

He is not who he says he is, and the change he's promising isn't the change
he's going to bring. His closest advisors and even his VP candidate are part
of the institutional problems that are giving his "message" a boost, and his
long-time friends, backers and "spiritual mentors" are the most sordid
variety of leftwing extremists... I feel like Orwell's 1984 is 24 years
late, but here it is.
