It rather reminds me of the Plame investigation in this regard. The guy who
actually "leaked" the name was Armitage at the State Dept. (ally of Powell
and enemy of Cheney/Libby)...and at no point was he ever under legal threat
because, well, Plame was not a covered agent at the time of the leak, i.e.,
there was no crime committed--a fact Fitzgerald kept well in his vest long
enough to lay a perjury trap for someone at the White House, to justify his
2 year investigation.

The issue is not quite as cut and dry, given Wooten's familial relations and
proven threat to the governor's family.

I don't think you can make a fair analogy between Todd Palin and Hillary
Clinton.

The facts of the case reveal Wooten has more than a few screws loose, and
that he was indeed abusing his power as a state trooper in terrorizing the
Governor's family directly. I frankly can't believe the subordinate would
not have fired Wooten after all of his infractions... DESPITE the fact that
he was a relative of the Governor: that seems almost a dereliction of duty.
