We used to believe in that idea, back when we were a nation of laws, not men.
Now even the quirky but usually fair minded Stephen Russell now thinks it's a marvelous impertinence for a powerful leader to bother himself with fundamental challenges about his material qualifications and willingness to be honest about his past. That, as much as any other reason, is why we're apparently toast this election.
