Hi Michael, Kristyne!

We have a chain grocery store down the street. One of the cashiers is 
dying of cancer too young for Medicare. The company will pay her health 
insurance if she works 20 hours a week but, of course, most of the time 
she can't work at all.

The manager is carrying her on the books for 20 hours a week out of his 
store labor budget. He could be fired for that if corporate found out.

Of course, the manager and the rest of the employees are doing the work 
she is being paid for. It is the oddest thing seeing the store manager 
working a register.
