I recently had a trip to the emergency room for what turned out to be kidney stones. Time spent in the emergency room, 3 hours. Bill was over $10K. A few days later, another trip to an emergency room and 2 days in the hospital. Bill was $15K. When the smoke clears away and all the miscellaneous bills finish trickling in, the total for this will be about $28K. Even with a supposedly good health insurance, my out of pocket is about $7500. For that amount of money, I would have expected to have been brought back from the dead 2 or 3 times, at least. ;\
