When I was younger I admit I didn't really see the point of that. It seemed
like a joke to me. Now that I have detrimental physical responses to stress
I GET IT in ways I never imagined.

My own mother died on May 2nd of this year, and it was a massive stroke with
a string of heart attacks that killed her. She had removed herself from
stressors some years earlier because her doctor told her stress would
literally kill her. I laughed about it... Not to her but to myself and in
discussions with my husband. Now I know what she meant and why.

A lot of ambitious Americans like I once was seem to feel invincible and
invite stress. Employment ads even spell out that they're looking for
someone that thrives in a "fast-paced" environment... Meaning of course,
high stress.

That's why I've been working so hard to get rid of the need for an employer
or contract client. I need independence so I can control my environment and
maintain low to moderate stress levels. I avoid high stress like the plague
because to me that is exactly how it affects me.
