http://www.linux.com/feature/124920 I suspect the lack of payroll module for Linux has something to do with most Linux Apps being more internationalized than USA based accounting systems. It's difficult enough to try and keep a USA based payroll system current, and trying to maintain payroll support in an accounting application that is available in 10 or 15 different languages, handles a number of different currency, and is subject to a completely different set of rules in each country/state is a whole new ball game. However, if a company used an internationalized accounting system without a payroll module, the company could use one of many online payroll services that accept input on employees as to pay rates/salary rate, and hours worked to generate payroll check, direct deposits to employee bank accounts and pension funds, automatic filing of all payroll reports, year end reports and W-2s, etc, The payroll reports provided by online payroll service can be used to journal a payroll enter into the Linux general ledger accounting module each payroll cycle. For more information Google "online payroll service" http://www.buyerzone.com/personnel/payroll/buyers_guide1.html http://www.professionalpayrolls.com/ http://www.ceridiansmallbusiness.com/ http://www.compupay.com/payroll_solutions/powerpayroll/ http://www.linuxplanet.com/linuxplanet/reviews/5692/1/ Although the Quasar accounting system is not free, it is recommended by LinuxPlanet http://www.linuxplanet.com/linuxplanet/reviews/5692/1/ http://www.linuxcanada.com/ Regards, LelandJ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
