C was my first language. Scary but not as scary as assembler. I've forgotten
it all now though, been too long

Not many things are awesome at first.  I remember hating/dreading
Assembler but once I finally learned it, I could really write some kick
ass programs (not GUIs, but console apps that ran on mainframes for
parsing data).
