Yeah, yeah, been there, done that, torn the T-shirt to shreds by now.
I was one of the original Microsoft Solutions Channel partners (the
program before the Provider program) and have been on that
hamster-wheel before. $400 a year, then $495, then $695, then you need
a certified whatsits on staff, then 2... Not interested. We're
supporting a legacy FoxPro program and just have to get it to run
under the Microsoft OS-du-jour. We no longer develop on MS platforms.
We just need to buy one machine, one license, then we can get it to
dual-boot something useful like Ubuntu the rest of the time.

The problem with a VPC is that it's virtual and it's more hassles
setting up a host machine. Our large-iron machine that could support
VMs are all Linux based, and I'm not familiar with the issues of
getting Vista to run on a non-VPC VM, so just sinking the money into a
hardware purchase we can repurpose (dual-boot!) for other uses seems
to make more sense.

I will never WANT to use IE, but can probably scrounge up a copy
around here somewhere. I've got it in a VM on one of my Linux boxen.
