That was a great site and utterly proved my point. People misuse the statistics to serve a purpose (nothing new there!). the term 'child' is used subjectively and often dishonestly. Bottom line is tho that X number of people are killed by firearms and if you dismiss the disingenuous and emotive term 'child' and start focusing on 'people' the facts look stark and unacceptable.
Except of course to the NRA and people who staunchly believe that guns don't kill. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Pete Theisen Sent: Wednesday, 28 January 2009 3:56 PM To: ProFox Email List Subject: Re: [OT] Stupid law of the year goes to congressman Peter King (R) New York Geoff Flight wrote: > Link doesn't work http://tinyurl.com/d6gfms but at risk of being repetitive, using the NRA sit hardly > gives the figures independent support. > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf > Of Pete Theisen > Sent: Wednesday, 28 January 2009 3:37 PM > To: ProFox Email List > Subject: Re: [OT] Stupid law of the year goes to congressman Peter King (R) > New York > > Geoff Flight wrote: >> These table for all of USA tells me there were 30,364 firearm deaths, > 32,637 >> suicides PLUS 18,124 homicides.
