< I don't mind a little mental bungee jumping from time to time, it helps clear the cobwebs and is always a leap of faith that new understanding is at the bottom and the tether of honesty will keep you from smashing your head against it.>
That is an illogical absurdity. I agree about your mental bungee jumping but please don't equate what happens next as some kind of refreshing vision and honesty. Your bungee jumping takes you right 'off the edge' and into the abyss of imbalance and absurdity. I can respect you, but not respect your comments. I don't believe that your comments reflect even a dose of balance or logic. You don't make leaps of faith - you usually just make leaps. And they take you nowhere but error. I love to debate with opposing points of view. But it is essential that both sides take a common view of facts, balance and logic. 'Bungee jumps' aren't part of the deal. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bob Calco Sent: Monday, 16 February 2009 2:49 PM To: 'ProFox Email List' Subject: RE: [OT] Federal Obligations Exceed World GDP > < Define sane.> > > Not you, not madagain and not bob. > > Its not perfect, but it works pretty well on here. I strive to understand the truth, and I don't care where that takes me. "Let god be true and every man a liar" works for me. So does "be ye not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." You may recognize those phrases. I am a contrarian and an experimentalist by nature, when it comes to ideas. I don't feel like I need to fit in someone else's definition of normal or sane, nor do I need to apologize for holding a view that is unpopular. I don't mind a little mental bungee jumping from time to time, it helps clear the cobwebs and is always a leap of faith that new understanding is at the bottom and the tether of honesty will keep you from smashing your head against it. I believe in reason, but pure logic by itself is like having vision only, but not hearing, or touch but not taste. As far as my Christianity, which you've also impugned, I confess I have a way to go on my walk of discipleship (who doesn't?), but I earnestly try to understand what's happening in the spiritual realms and to test the spirits. If like Helio you really don't believe in these things, then I understand and respect that. But you claim to be Christian too---then you mock me personally. I have hesitated to respond to your name calling, ad hominem attacks on my character, and other attempts to ignore my actual arguments so you can fit me in some nice little toy box and amuse yourself, out of respect. This respect is running thin. - Bob [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
