If you go for the free credit report you HAVE to cancel it within a
few days or they peg your account for an annual subscription.  I think
it is 3 or 7 days and bang.

Or you can open a new checking account and get a debit card with them.
  Use that one and call the bank and say that you think the # was
compromised.  They will give you a new one !
