It's uncanny. There was a period, briefly, after his election when I
thought, well it'll be awhile till there's a legitimate scandal--at least
say six months. I mean, with Bush the Halliburton thing was kinda insincere
since Clinton made them no-bid in the first place. Ken Lay had his skids
greased by both parties, and besides, the accounting abuses predated Bush's
presidency by several years. The whole Joe Wilson affair was joke within a
prank, and on the merits was more a scandal of prosecutorial malfeasance
than anything the White House actually did. OK, Harriet Meirs was a complete
brain fart, and Katrina showed some serious ineptitude --but it was
system-wide, by no means limited to Bush's FEMA appointment. Seriously---it
took a long time, till 2005, for any real parade of errors on Bush's part to
become manifest. He was pretty popular up till that time, too.

But Obama's remarkable ability to violate nearly every one of his sacred
vows and play musical chairs with Clinton administration retreads, hire
lobbyists and nominate serial tax cheats is a thing to behold. I am a little
surprised myself and I expected the worst.

And I won't even mention that he's already added to the deficit half in one
month what Bush added over eight years...
