I hear you talking all about a country that had SLAVERY and fought a war
over it. And the liberation that followed, while a great improvement, wasn't
exactly racial equality was it? "I have a dream" wasn't referring to a house
and white picket fence. Maybe Rosa Parkes could tell you a little about
racial equality. Because the way you seek to whitewash the racism of
america's past offends ME.

He's lived a privileged life off the hard work of actual strugglers who
paved his path for him. He comes out of one of the most corrupt political
machines, probably on the planet, in Chicago. His first election---he
defeats an incumbent black woman who was knocked off the ballot by an
obscure technicality. His only state senate race, private divorce records
mysteriously pop up about his opponent. His only US senate race, ditto. All
uphill from there.
The man has never run anything but two left-wing foundations, with a little
help from his neighborhood friend and ghostwriter, Bill Ayers. Axelrod and
Emmanuel make Rove look like Mr. Rogers. Pay a little attention to facts and
names, instead of generalities ("raised and living in a country that is
hardly the poster child for racial equality").
I'm offended by that. Our country is the only on earth that spilled hundreds
of thousands of its own lives on a civil war liberating an oppressed
minority. Who was Russia's first black president, remind me? Germany's?
Britain's? Australia's? They're right on the tip of my tongue...remind me,
Geoff.
