NameCheap.com has very low cost SSL certificates. Awhile back you could
get one for $3 if you purchased a $9 domain name. I'm very pleased with
NameCheap (couldn't stand the noisy/upsell checkout process at
Godaddy.com).

If you're doing e-commerce, you'll want a name brand, 'higher end' SSL
certificate with a specific level of $$$ protection and recognizable
brand. But if you just need a secure https connection, then a low cost
SSL certificate should be fine.

Let us know what vendor you finally use.
