I obviously don't know the history of your interaction with Pete, or why your opinion of him goes so deep to generate such an unprofessional reaction from you. Thanks for shedding some light on it---it did seem like there had to be more to the story. I was frankly shocked to see such a harsh blow-off, laced with insults and unsolicited career advice. Obviously, Pete wasn't getting the help he needed at the other Dabo lists, and somehow something he learned here today got him past his problem, despite the ad hominems. He did not personally address you in any way when he asked his question, he was just looking for some direction from some fellow ProFoxers who happen to have dabbled with Dabo, knowing that there are some on this list in that category who may be able to help him. He was respectful to follow the NF convention. If he's just a time sink to you, I'm curious why you replied at all, let alone with such virulence. So, FWIW -- yea, I know, not much :) -- all things considered, I still don't think you were justified.
