Hi Helio! I have Ubuntu 8.10 on a P II 400 with 384 meg and about 25 gig Hard drive. It is slow, but it does work. I would say a P III of 750 or better with 512 meg would be fairly good. The Ubuntu 9.04 one I set up a day ago is a P IV 1.7 with 1.5 Gb and 60 Gb. It is just wonderful for most stuff. File browsing is slow, but that is because there are *so* many files. I have 7 windows open now on two screens and it is just humming along. The interface is bright and clear. Oh, wait, I just got new glasses :-) Regards, Pete > On Fri, May 22, 2009 at 1:09 AM, Ed Leafe <[email protected]> wrote: > >> If you're comfortable with Windows and either want to try Ubuntu, or >> at least read what installing and using it is like from a long-time >> Windows user, you should read this article: >> >> http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ubuntu-linux-guide,2293.html >> ( -or- http://bit.ly/s8uba ) > -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
