My recommendation for you is to have INSTALLDIR (set up under the General
Information (Step 1)) default to the standard [ProgramFilesDir]\MyAppDir, or
if you want it to something else just hardcode it. I would not leave out the
a drive. Then under the Dialogs (under step 4) make sure the Destination
Folder dialog is set up so the user can select the folder they want to
install it in.

Now the ActiveX control issue is a separate issue. Where is it getting
installed? Are you using a Merge Module or are you directing the
registration on your own via the files section?

You have to ensure it is getting registered no matter where you choose to
have it installed.
