If it were me, I would imagine the dept has a review board that hands down
this kind of punishment. You would really need to see his record. If this
isn't a first offense, he might even need to be fired. If it's a first
offense, I would recommend 10 days (1/2 month's salary). Hopefully, that
would get his attention.

Hi John,

Well, I agree with your choice of punishment. How long a suspension? Now 
if they would get busy and deport all 12 million or whatever of the 
illegals we would have a lot less of this sort of thing.
