Well, of course due to the features 'arms race' between the AV vendors they all tend to do a lot more than just AV signature scanning these days. The Kaspersky I have does (in realtime): AV scanning Outlook email scanning Web traffic scanning (i.e. port 80 HTTP traffic etc) IM scanning Application heuristic scanning Firewall Anti-spam Anti-banner Popup blocking Parental control ... yada yada yada. So it's no wonder there's a performance hit. -- Alan Bourke alanpbourke (at) fastmail (dot) fm _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
