Hi Phillip,

The phrase "herd you into the slaughterhouse" is a figure of speech as I
use it here. It refers to not trying to fix your injury or illness and
instead drugging you into insensibility because that is far cheaper.

They wanted to do that to me several years ago after a series of car
accidents. I refused their death wish for me but then I had to pay for
my own care , a *lot $$$*, and it left me bankrupt. However, now my
health is much better - after they left me for dead and didn't pay.

I had insurance, both the drivers who hit me had insurance. The cheap
way saves the insurance companies money, for CEO salaries and perks, but
results in an unfixed and by now dead (from the side effects of the pain
drugs) me. I call that "herd me into the slaughterhouse". What would you
call it if it were you being given dangerous (eventually fatal) pain
drugs instead of restorative care?

The national health care proposals all follow the insurance "industry"
"cost containment" model which *amounts to* selecting the sickest
patients for death. Saying anything else about it is just putting
lipstick on a pig.

What has been missing in all the proposals has been a commitment to
life, if life is at all possible. They want to commit to "saving money"
and are prepared to "accept" some deaths (of other people) to realize
the savings. The breakpoint is selected not by medical possibility, but
by budgetary goals.
