You seem to have it backward, Pete.  Short term industries 
like petroleum, steel, autos and utilities have a lot more 
to lose from correcting global warming and climate change, 
than the scientific community has to gain, thus the denials. 
  Long term everybody loses, if global warming and climate 
change are not corrected.
