I think given all the facts now on the table, the world deserves another dark age. People from all four corners of the globe seem determined to manufacture another one via Copenhagen, which reminds me of a great quote from H. L. Mencken:
"Democracy is the theory that the common man knows what he wants, and deserves to get it, good and hard." Of course, there's very little that's democratic about the way it's being foisted on the voters, with all these czar's and self-appointed know-it-alls and mysterious regulations and treaties and all that, but then again, we voted for these morons.
