The digital age is here. Even my I-phone takes a decent picture, so I guess
the camera purchase goes to
What you are trying to achieve. I recently purchases a Canon XSI Digital
Rebel that came with a telephoto
Image stabilization lens (package deal from Walmart). I've gotten rave
reviews on the picture quality, particularly
on the long shots.

I looked at going up to a 50 mm Canon with the D50, but I didn't think it
was worth the
additional 700.00 and the lenses would have made it even more.

Camera price is a function of the Optics and the image system. The
better either get the more $$ the camera costs all of us.

With your price point under 100 it doesn't really matter. Read the
reviews and look for rants on time to record image, speed to take the
next picture, flash recoil time.

This was my wife's biggest bitch about our first digital. "I cannot
take a second picture as the bride is walking down the isle because
the camera isn't ready!" Olympus 3 MP camera purchased in 1995.

I would back off of getting higher resolution cameras for a lower on
on a way to save some $$ and get maybe better optics. I bet there are
some cheap in price 5MP cameras out there that were sold @ 200+ but
nobody wants them anymore because there is now an 8 or 12 MP camera.

If you are blowing up to 8x10 11x14 or larger for CONTESTS or sale
then you need more then 100 will buy. But for kids + fun pics you are
fine.
