For that to happen he's going to have to implement some of those
"failed policies of the past" that he hates so much, like tax and
budget cuts. Because his policies are keeping economic growth down,
and people see now that the so-called "stimulus" was just a giant
political slush fund whose impact on the economy is actually more of
an anchor long term than a sail.

The electorate is forcing him to moderate by swinging as hard as it is
back to the center-right. I don't think he can do it.

The economy can still recover even in a hostile environment such as
the current one, but he can make it a lot worse, and seems bent on
doing so.

I just don't think his underlying motivation is to fix the economy,
but to wreck it in the name of systemic "transformation." Most people
feel they were sold a bill of goods, and that's not the half of it.

Now that people are disabused of the myth of his magical powers of
persuasion and mentat intellect, he's going to be chewed up and spit
out faster than George W. Bush.

"It ought never to be forgotten, that a firm union of this country,
under an efficient government, will probably be an increasing object
of jealousy to more than one nation of Europe; and that enterprises to
subvert it will sometimes originate in the intrigues of foreign
powers, and will seldom fail to be patronized and abetted by some of
them. Its preservation, therefore ought in no case that can be
avoided, to be committed to the guardianship of any but those whose
situation will uniformly beget an immediate interest in the faithful
and vigilant performance of the trust." [Federalist Papers #59]
