We have a guy in our community (www.profox.ro) which did a lot of work with Firebird and he's one of the ones I'd call expert in this area. Dorin Vasilescu. He has posted some useful classes on Universalthread as well. He says Firebird is a dependable and free database server. And if he says so, I tend to believe the guy.
