Had a talk to a friend last night on how management isn't like doing
what you use to do. He is an engineer with a protein mfg and was just
made top gear head with a limited and dysfunctional staff. Anyway he
finds it hard deal with problems as an manager and it was easy as the
engineer. In that one mindset didn't cross over to the other one or
the other side easily.

Because you have your heart and soul invested in VFP you cannot see
her POV much like see cannot comprehend yours. You feel like you are
sitting on a gold mine of great code that gets the job done. She may
feel like it takes nothing to convert the beast to the WEB, and you
guys cannot do that for any number of valid reasons. She may know
that it takes a lot of work to move it to the web and is still putting
in that time?

Point being is that your boss shouldn't have to be skilled at what
your job is, unless that is a part of their requirements. Much like
my friend who is out of Mechanical design and engineering should he be
able to create the new software for their flow controls? No he has a
dipstick EE who does that.

Managers have to manage the flow of the process as well as the needs
of their staff.
