I usually just park the threads I am interested in without reading them. I treat them more like a database so that later when I need to know something I use search techniques to find the information. Then later once my search turns up a topic I am interested in, I will spend ten or fifteen minutes studying the thread. But due to lack of trimming I pick the latest message and usually get what I want without too much fuss.
