Split all the words into a temporary cursor, where the word itself is one field 
and 
the trailing whitespace is another. REPLACE ALL word with "*" where word = 
"SES". 
Then iterate the cursor to rebuild the string.

Oh, wait, there has to be a better way than this. Oh, yeah: regular 
expressions. I 
think there must be an external library for this in VFP?

If not, you could shell out to Python which has it built-in, and it would even 
be a 
quite short 1-liner.
