If you Americans want to save on oil then do what the rest of the world does. TAX IT. You have ludicrously low fuel prices which is why you use/waste so much of it. High prices are a disincentive to waste and an incentive to economy. ECONOMIC 101, but apparently no one in your government has yet understood that.

I know it will go over as easily as prying the gun out of your cold dead fingers. People have to realize that they do not need a vehicle that seats 6-8 for a family of 3. All those soccer moms will have to go back to a car. Might even save 10 miles per gallon when they switch. If that extends your mileage by 30% that is a win for not needed to keep drilling. Depending on where you live you might ride your bike to the bus stop where you put your bike on the bus for use in the end of your commute. That bus is already there on the road so the savings is 100% on your side. Learning that less is more. A little lower temp in the winter and a little higher in the summer will save some electricity need. I know that you live in bumb fuck texas that doesn't have this and you already do that. Probably because you are just ahead of poor?
