Two suggestions: 1. Avira was top-rated in a recent Consumer Reports review. No personal experience, just suggesting you take a look. 2. Real-time scanning is overrated. All it does is clog every operation you attempt to perform on the machine. If you're really running a server with a very limited number of applications, and accessing it from workstations with real-time scanners, the duplication is just inefficient. Run ClamWin once a week, and run it on every file you download before you run it. Don't surf on the machine, other than to trusted sites (*), with a secure browser (i.e., NOT IE) and javascript disabled except when needed. (*) Trusted sites means vendor sites that have software you need to download, not to general portals (CNN, MSN) with ad networks that accept advertising submissions and occasionally let through malware. -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
