I can't help with ADO, because I don't use it, but to do the above, I
use something like this: (Off the top of my head)
1) Create a connection on the SQL server (I can give you more info, if
neeeded)
2)
nHandle = SqlConnect("MyConnection")
if nHandle < 0
* some sort of error message
RETURN
endif
cSQL = "Select * from Customers where custid = " + Transform(nCustID)
nResult = SQLEXec(nHandle, cSQL, "MyCursor")
if nResult < 0
messagebox(message()) && Some sort of error handling
endif
Select MyCursor
scan
&& blah blah blah
endscan
cSQL = "update customers set lastname = 'Smith' where custid = " +
transform(nCustId)
nResult = SQLEXec(nHandle, cSQL, "")
* etc
