Upsizing to a server database. I'd recommend MySQL or Postgresql but I'm sure 
MS SQL 
Server will work just fine, too.

It depends. If you USE your data tables currently, it'll be a lot of work. On 
the 
other hand, if you use views and/or mostly SQL, you are much of the way there 
already.

I've converted 3 Fox/VFP apps to use MySQL.

You can certainly go one-by-one on the table conversions. Actually, you'll want 
to 
convert sets of related tables at once, so the server can do the joins.

Is your data access logic sprinkled in the code pretty much everywhere?

The nice thing about remote views and/or SPT is that you end up with cursors 
you can 
use just as if they were local Fox tables. So depending on your situation, it 
may not 
be too daunting to set up new data access methods while leaving most of your 
code alone.
