Any of you Word gurus know how to accomplish the following?

I have a bunch of Word docs that are essentially plain text docs
with paragraphs of indented text. The indented text is indented
using the paragraph indentation property vs. tab chars.

The indentation was done by highlighting a block of text in Word
and hitting the tab key so all the indentation is 100% consistent
(and follows the default tab stops set every 1/2 inch, eg. 0.5",
1.0", 1.5", etc)

I would like to export the content of these docs to regular text
files and have the indentation replaced with tab chars.

Is there a Word feature/setting that will allow me to do this or
must I resort to VBA?

Thanks,
Malcolm
