Hello Pete, I've been selling plastics made from corn starch for four years now... Wallmart/ASDA , Tescos etc don't want to know as it's about 30% more expensive than recycled PET (aka rPET). rPET provides them with an environmental credibility yet still uses oil.
The generic name for corn starch plastics is PLA, the majority is manufactured by Cargill Dow, but because it usually made from GM maize, even the organic / environmental lobby are not so favourable towards it. Yup one of my Companies source packaging material around the world and distributes it in the UK. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Pete Theisen Sent: 22 October 2010 05:03 To: ProFox Email List Subject: [OT] Potato Plastic Hi Everybody, May be interesting to those of you with kids. http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-Potato-Plastic!/ -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
