I saw an interview with the parents of a child who survived an accident
that killed around 20 other children. All the mother could do was keep thanking
God for looking out for her son. It struck me as odd that it never occurred to
her that God could have just as easily looked out for the other kids, too, but
chose to let them die. It didn't seem any different to me than if a gunman had
taken 21 kids and then shot 20 of them to death, with the parents of the 21st
praising the gunman for not killing their child, too.
