This is what I learned looking at the listing on Frys.com

The My Book is smaller in size, and comes with software to do automated
backups, password protection, encryption...

The Digital Elements appears to be just a drive without the extra software
and a little larger case.


I wouldn't mind knowing the difference as well.  At that price it is worth a
look, I could use a large drive to store backups on and there is a Frys not
too far from my office.  They have the Digital Elements 2GB on sale this
week for $87 (In-store only).

Walmart has the Western Digital Elements 2TB at 94.00 and My Book Essential
2TB at 139.00. 
It will be used for backup. Not moved much. Which should i buy.
