My political inclinations closely resemble the Republican party of the
1860s. I haven't change, but the Republican party of the 1860's has
changed into something more closely resembling the Democratic party of
today.

I imagine the Democrats of today, including me, would have supported
freeing the slaves, preserving the union, rebuilding the south under
"reconstruction", and forgiving the confederacy, rather than punishing
her. Abraham Lincoln was President during one of the most critical time
in American history, and he was up to the challenge. That the times
were challenging during Lincoln's day, and Lincoln's response to the
challenges both are what make Abraham Lincoln so great.

We are facing some difficult challenges today, which provides President
Obama and the American people great opportunity. We just need the will
to meet the challenges.

Regards,
