I don't think the drive will boot any more, may get lucky one more time. I will have to remove this new hard drive and put the old drive back in to see if I can format it.
I do have an old tape bulk eraser that I used to erase backup tapes long ago. I will give that a try also. I have an external drive enclosure that I can use for standard hard drives but it won't work for laptop drives. Maybe they make one for laptop drives so I can access the drive via USB port and format it that way. Darn drive had a bunch of company source code on it and don't want to give it away Thanks, Kent -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of MB Software Solutions,LLC Sent: Wednesday, March 02, 2011 3:27 PM To: ProFox Email List Subject: Re: [NF] Format laptop harddrive On 3/2/2011 1:49 PM, Ted Roche wrote: > On Wed, Mar 2, 2011 at 1:31 PM, Jarvis, Matthew<[email protected]> wrote: >> >> Ya, but if the drive is failing what ya supposed to do?? >> >> Hmmmm........ >> > > It's true that a failing drive is unlikely to let you write over all > the sectors, but it's better than nothing.
