Not true, really.
My country suffered hyperinflation many times. For instance, from may'89 
to march'90 we had 11 months with 58% mean inflation MONTHLY.
Yet after that we've been with 8% growth for more than a decade, and 
though things are not as good as may be we are ok now.
So I'd say FROM EXPERIENCE that you can overcome hyperinflation in less 
than a decade.
