Yeah, I installed HyperV 2008 Rs server, but it has to run as it's on os,
not as a VM under Windows 7. I  have a multi-boot menu, which I guess I may
have to use, or else bite the bullet and get a copy of VM Ware.

John,

I ran Server 2008 in the Virtual PC 2007 on Windows Vista in the past.
Virtual PC guest OS's are only 32-bit.
These days I use VMWare workstation though. Better snapshotting, 64-bit
capable, multi-core configuration. Though the Hyper-V solution from
Microsoft has these too.
