Bill, Great to hear from you. I just sent out a new version of my software which incorporated changes I spent many hundred hours on. Later that night I let my mind wander. You and your vehicle rolled in. Working on wheels is an interesting concept.
Nice to hear the world is treating you ok. Thanks for the update. Hi Carl, Bill Arnold was on this list a number of years ago. He did a number of things of significance. One of them, he went mobile. He bought a home on wheels and traveled. This was maybe ten or so years ago and the obstacles were there. They have diminished. I wonder where Bill is now. And, I wonder if today, a home business could be run on wheels? ------------------------ I'm still here, just been in listen mode for a while. A poster really got under my skin, so I figured it was time to take a break. I do feel badly that I haven't contributed anything while I've continued to learn from the folks here. Re the camper: it's a great lifestyle and I think perfectly amenable to programming and writing. For myself, there was nothing like being parked right on the beach and working with the sounds of the ocean right outside the window, especially at night and, early morning. And camper-types are generally the friendliest people, which is a big plus. But being away for long periods took its toll on family relations. When a close family member died while I was on the road, it kinda took the wind out of my sails, so I reconsidered, disposed of the camper and settled down on Long Island to be close to family again. Now time has passed, things continue to change, and I actually thinking about it again. Re the efficacy of the RV lifestyle for what we do, I'm sure it's even better now than it was. I had to stick to a relatively small number of RV sites with telephone service, which was pretty limiting, now high speed cable and wifi are more readily available. Equipment capacity and reliability have improved dramatically, and that improves life across the board. I had to lug boxes of books around, but now with terabytes of capacity and the amazing amount of information on the net, it's all electronic and the boxes are history. Great way to [semi-]retire, too. If you're married, be sure you both get along well on most things because you'll be very close all the time, and that can try a relationship (not my circumstance, just an observation). I can talk more about it, if there's interest. ------- Project/business-wise, I've got a dozen or so customers. Sales could be a better, but it's personally rewarding to be able to help small business operators take advantage of databases and the Internet. And I think it's very useful to field test the product as much as possible before selling billions and billions of copies :) Bill [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/!&!AAAAAAAAAAAYAAAAAAAAABb9FJb8qxRMvnUzapjTz2QCiQAAEAAAANJRSRkcQBtDgPcP8qZSJJcBAAAAAA==@bdos.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
