I had the same problem. My graphics (ha!) card is a sis530  onbord. I
thought
that progeny would recognize it easily but i didn't. I simply couldn't
install
progeny through its installer!

I installed potato 2.2r3 and, when it asked for additional cd disks I
supplied also the progeny ones. Then, when all was done, I went to
dselect and selected some task-potato-progeny (or something like this).
That made it.

Hum, couldn't you unplug pcmcia (is it a card?), install debian/progeny
and put it back?
