My thought is why not just copy the kde-2.1 stuff into a directory,
then cd into that directory, then "dpkg -i *.deb"? That should see
all of the .debs you have in that directory and, if eveything you
need is there, it should install the stuff without much of a problem.
If all of the appropriate binaries are included on that magazine cd,
then you shouldn't have much of a problem.
If not, then I'm not sure.
Or, I could be wrong all around, but it seems to be that I tried
something similar once and had little problems.
