My original version was along your lines (that is, no spaces until the
end) except that I couldn't figure out how to insert alternating spaces in
the final result. Thus, I had to insert spaces in sqdata to come anywhere
close to a solution (that is, where output looked similar to what I was
looking for).
I'm familiar with iji, but only with respect to displaying decimal data. I
had never seen your use previously--but that's how this relative newbie
learns J better and better. (And thanks for noticing that the solution
could involve more possible characters than only '.'
and '@'.)
