Just for the record.  The so-called Durand–Kerner method was
independently discovered by several authors in the 1960s.  It
is based on a formula of K.Weierstrass, although he did not use
it to approximate roots.  Kiril Dochev was the first (1962) to
establish a sufficient condition for the convergence of the
method and to prove that the convergence is quadratic.
